About the Author
Elisabeth L. grew up in Lexington, Kentucky. She has a son, a daughter, and five delightful grandchildren. She and her husband live in Virginia, dividing their time between Arlington and Midlothian, a suburb of�Richmond. Elisabeth joined Overeaters Anonymous in 1976. Although her abstinence has not been perfect, for 25 years she has maintained a weight between 120 and 125 pounds. More important, during that time she has been free of the compulsive overeating that controlled her life for at least 25 years before�she found OA. One day at a time, she continues to be gratefully recovering. Treasured gem on my OA path

As an Overeaters Anonymous member of several years, Elizabeth L.'s work is a daily companion to me. Her daily readings in Inner Harvest and Food for thought really resonate with my struggle with food and her words help me change my thinking. There are so many words of wisdom that pop out of these volumes at me, mine are dog-eared and filled with underlines, I read daily for inspiration and to complement my OA literature.
Elizabeth L.'s take on the Twelve Steps was equally a gem. I worked through the entire book this summer when working through the 12 steps with my sponsor for my third time through the steps. The book provided a fresh perspective of the steps, many aha moments. It would be useful both for someone familiar with the OA literature, and would also be accessible to a reader working on their own on their compulsive eating.
The explanation of each step was perhaps 10-17 pages long, clearly written, useful information on the mental readiness and surrender required in each step. Good questions to the reader and writing prompts for each step are included.
Thank you for a book that gives a fresh perspective on the 12 steps. It really opened my eyes and spoke to me as a compulsive overeater.
